Christian Liipfert presented “Headlines: A Year’s Worth of Information Governance Failures” at the 2018 ARMA Houston Annual Spring Conference. Established in 1955 with over 10,000 members in the United States, Canada and 30 other countries, ARMA International is a not-for-profit professional association and an authority on managing records and information - paper and electronic. The ARMA Houston Chapter, with over 300 members, is the largest of the 170 ARMA chapters worldwide.
Mr. Liipfert provided a review of information governance failures in the news over the past year. He reminded the audience that “mistakes are a powerful learning tool and it’s wise to study where other organizations have failed to avoid making those same mistakes.” Mr. Liipfert discussed the governance, information, and compliance aspects of six major news stories: Facebook, Parkland, Equifax, Uber, VW, and Wells Fargo. He also addressed several news stories involving the Federal government including the Clinton email server, the leak of the Comey memos, the Trump transition emails and the Mueller investigation, lying by FBI officials and the FISA warrant in the Russia collusion investigation.
