Christian Liipfert Kicks Off Iron Mountain’s 2019 Education Series

Counsel Christian Liipfert gave the keynote address kicking off Iron Mountain’s 2019 Education Series. A renowned expert on Information Governance, Mr. Liipfert highlighted the events that made the news in 2018 and will have an impact on Information Management practices in 2019.  Mr. Liipfert recapped the emerging security, compliance and privacy concerns that organizations faced in the past year and discussed safeguarding and managing information. He outlined the linkages between information, compliance, and governance and offered guidance on how to succeed in the constantly evolving environment.

Mr.Liipfert served as an in-house lawyer for more than 25 years with large companies such as BP, Amoco and Schlumberger.  To advance the business case for true Information Governance, Mr. Liipfert recommended that information professionals read Doug Laney’s book, Infonomics, which discusses how to value information; that organizations appoint a single person at the C-suite to be accountable for all an organization’s information and to integrate all the stakeholders; and that the information initiative be strongly linked to the Compliance function.  He emphasized that information professionals need to digitally transform themselves and become active learners on IT, Security, and Privacy.
