Partner Stephanie Scharf to Chair ABA Commission on Women in the Profession

Partner  Stephanie A Scharf has been appointed Chair of the American Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession starting in August 2017.   Stephanie, who  heads the Firm’s Complex Litigation Practice, has represented clients in litigation and at trial for over 30 years. She is also nationally known for her policy initiatives on advancing women in the law.   Stephanie is  a former President of the National Association of Women Lawyers where she founded the  NAWL Annual Survey of Retention and Advancement of Women in Law, and oversaw that research from 2006 through 2014.   She conducted the first-ever National Survey Of Women’s Initiatives In Law Firms.  More recently, she conducted the research, “First Chairs at Trial: More Women Need Seats at the Table,” an ABA research report co-authored with Roberta Liebenberg.   Along with her role as incoming Chair of the Commission, Stephanie is co-head of the ABA Presidential Initiative, "Achieving Long-Term Careers for Women in the Law.”
