Senior Legal Executive Susan H. Rider Joins Scharf Banks Marmor LLC
Scharf Banks Marmor LLC is delighted to announce that Susan H. Rider, a nationally recognized labor and employment lawyer, has joined the firm’s Employment Counseling and Litigation Practice.
Before joining Scharf Banks Marmor, Ms. Rider led a nationwide team of labor, employment, and benefits lawyers at Exelon Corporation, and its then subsidiary Constellation, as Vice President & Deputy General Counsel for Labor, Employment & Employee Benefits. Among her many accomplishments at Exelon was her work with human resources and executive leadership to increase diversity and inclusion in the company’s workforce with innovative strategies that drove significant progress while limiting legal risk.
“We are thrilled that Susan has joined the Scharf Banks Marmor team,” said Sarah Marmor, co-founding partner of the firm. “Susan is a dynamic and top-performing senior legal executive with demonstrated success.” The addition of Ms. Rider, noted Ms. Marmor, is also consistent with the firm’s strategic vision. “Employment issues are at the top of many of our clients’ agendas for 2022 and beyond, and with Susan, on board, we are well-positioned to meet those critical needs. Susan’s three decades of experience in employment law, litigation, dispute resolution, policy development, internal investigations, diversity initiatives, and labor relations make her a great asset to the firm and to our clients.”
“Susan has served as a trusted advisor to senior leadership teams, built collaborative partnerships with attorneys and human resources teams, and effectively managed inside and outside counsel,” said Stephanie Scharf, co-founding partner of the firm. “She joins us with an extensive background representing a multifaceted Fortune 100 company, a broad understanding of the many ways that legal functions can support corporate clients, and the experience of consistently achieving favorable resolutions to complex legal issues.”
“I’m excited to join a dynamic, sophisticated practice with such a fantastic reputation,” said Ms. Rider. “I hold the attorneys at Scharf Banks Marmor in the highest regard. Their lawyers come from top AmLaw 100 firms and Fortune 100 corporate law departments and clients trust them with significant engagements. The fact that it is one of Chicago’s largest women-owned law firms was especially appealing to me.”
Ms. Rider received her B.S. from Nebraska Wesleyan University and her J.D. from Cornell University School of Law. Her full bio can be found at https://www.scharfbanks.com/who-we-are/attorneys/susan-h-rider
